“Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati …pe… “dasabalasamannā- gato, bhikkhave, tathāgato catūhi ca vesārajjehi samannāgato āsabhaṃ ṭhānaṃ paṭijānāti, parisāsu sīhanādaṃ nadati, brahmacakkaṃ pavatteti– ‘iti rūpaṃ iti rūpassa samudayo iti rūpassa atthaṅgamo, iti vedanā iti vedanāya samudayo iti vedanāya atthaṅgamo, iti saññā iti saññāya samudayo iti saññāya atthaṅgamo, iti saṅkhārā iti saṅkhārānaṃ samudayo iti saṅkhārānaṃ atthaṅgamo, iti viññāṇaṃ iti viññāṇassa samudayo iti viññāṇassa atthaṅgamo. Iti imasmiṃ sati idaṃ hoti, imassuppādā idaṃ uppajjati; imasmiṃ asati idaṃ na hoti imassa nirodhā idaṃ nirujjhati. Yadidaṃ avijjāpaccayā saṅkhārā; saṅkhārapaccayā viññāṇaṃ … pe … evametassa kevalassa dukkhakkhandhassa samudayo hoti. Avijjāya tveva asesavirāganirodhā saṅkhāranirodho; saṅkhāranirodhā viññāṇanirodho … pe … evametassa kevalassa dukkhakkhandhassa nirodho hoti”. “Evaṃ svākkhāto, bhikkhave, mayā dhammo uttāno vivaṭo pakāsito chinnapilotiko. Evaṃ svākkhāte kho, bhikkhave, mayā dhamme uttāne vivaṭe pakāsite chinnapilotike alameva saddhāpabbajitena kulaputtena vīriyaṃ ārabhituṃ– ‘kāmaṃ taco ca nhāru ca aṭṭhi ca avasissatu, sarīre upasussatu maṃsalohitaṃ. Yaṃ taṃ purisathāmena purisavīriyena purisaparakkamena pattabbaṃ, na taṃ apāpuṇitvā vīriyassa saṇṭhānaṃ bhavissatī’”ti.
“Dukkhaṃ bhikkhave, kusīto viharati vokiṇṇo pāpakehi akusalehi dhammehi, mahantañca sadatthaṃ parihāpeti. Āraddhavīriyo ca kho, bhikkhave, sukhaṃ viharati pavivitto pāpakehi akusalehi dhammehi, mahantañca sadatthaṃ paripūreti. Na, bhikkhave, hīnena aggassa patti hoti. Aggena ca kho, bhikkhave, aggassa patti hoti. Maṇḍapeyyamidaṃ, bhikkhave, brahmacariyaṃ, satthā sammukhībhūto. Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, vīriyaṃ ārabhatha appattassa pattiyā, anadhigatassa adhigamāya, asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya. ‘Evaṃ no ayaṃ amhākaṃ pabbajjā avañjhā bhavissati saphalā saudrayā. Yesañca mayaṃ paribhuñjāma cīvarapiṇḍapātasenāsana-gilānappaccayabhesajjaparikk hāraṃ tesaṃ te kārā amhesu mahapphalā bhavissanti mahānisaṃsā’ti. Evañhi vo, bhikkhave, sikkhitabbaṃ. Attatthaṃ vā hi, bhikkhave, sampassamānena alameva appamādena sampādetuṃ; paratthaṃ vā hi, bhikkhave, sampassamānena alameva appamādena sampādetuṃ; ubhayatthaṃ vā hi, bhikkhave, sampassamānena alameva appamādena sampādetu”nti. Idamavo ca bhagavā attamanā te bhikkhu bhagavato bhāsitaṃ abhinandunti. (Nidāna saṃyutta dasabalavagga)
“比庫們!具備十力與具備四無畏,如來自稱地位如牛王,在眾中作獅子吼,轉起梵輪:‘這是色,這是色的集,這是色的滅;這是受,這是受的集,這是受的滅;這是想,這是想的集,這是想的滅;這是行,這是行的集,這是行的滅;這是識,這是識的集,這是識的滅。像這樣,此有故彼有;此生故彼生;此無故彼無;此滅故彼滅,即:無明緣行;行緣識;……(中略)這是整個苦蘊的集。無明滅則行滅;行滅則識滅;……(中略)這是整個苦蘊的滅。’”
“比庫們!法已被我如此善解說、闡明、顯露、說明、 剝掉破舊衣。比庫們!當法已被我如此善解說、闡明、顯露、說明、剝掉破舊衣時,它就足以令由信出家的善男子激發精進--哪怕只剩下皮膚、肌腱、骨骸;哪怕身體的血肉枯乾,只要以人的毅力、人的活力、人的努力應該達成而未達成者,(我的)精進將不會止息。”
“比庫們!怠惰者住於苦,以惡不善法的摻雜而疏忽自己的大利益。”
“比庫們!但已激發精進者住於樂,以實現惡不善法的 遠離而完成自己的大利益。”
“比庫們!不以下劣(之因)而有最高的成就,比庫們!但以最高(之因)而有最高的成就。”
“比庫們!大師在面前時,這梵行是醍醐味。比庫們!因此,在這裡,為了未達成者的達成;為了未證得者的證得;為了未作證者的作證,你們要激發精進:‘這樣,我們這出家必將是功不唐捐的、有成果的、有果實的,而且,我們受用衣服、飲食、住處、病者所需要的醫藥資具,那些為我們準備這些的人必將有大果、大利益。’比庫們!你們應該這麼學。”
“比庫們!為自己的利益考慮,就足以(令自己)以不放逸使目標達成;比庫們!為別人的利益考慮,就足以(令自己)以不放逸使目標達成;比庫們!為(自他)兩者的利益考慮,就足以(令自己)以不放逸使目標達成。” ――《相應部·因緣相應·第 22經》
