比庫護戒應不亞於保護生命。破戒者佯裝具德比庫、混在清淨比庫的隊伍裡,乍現律儀相,偽裝具德者而受到恭敬,他也受用如來只開許具德者使用的資具、接受具德比庫的禮敬,參加戒律甘馬,這些是非常嚴重的過失。

“Kuso yathā duggahito hatthamevānukantati. Sāmaññaṃ dupparāmaṭṭham nirayāya upakaḍḍhati.”

“如同不握好古沙草會割傷手,沙門執持邪行會趣向地獄。”――《法句經·地獄品》


如來在《火堆喻經》中(Aggikkhandhopama sutta)提到,即使一個人雙腿被牢固的繩索捆綁、由兩位壯漢相對拉拽直到肉散骨斷,或是以刀劍刺穿其胸膛,此人所受之苦不及破戒比庫接受信徒禮敬所受果報之苦。


如來在《火堆喻經》中進一步教導,即使身體被滾燙燃燒的鐵片包裹,其苦不及破戒之人穿著信施袈裟所受果報之苦;即使口被火紅的鐵鉗撬開、再吞下滾燙的鐵球,其苦不及破戒之人食用信施食物所受果報之苦;即使坐臥在滾燙的鐵椅和鐵床上,其苦不及破戒之人使用信施床椅所受果報之苦;即使被頭朝下腳朝上地浸沒在融化的鐵水中,其苦也不及破戒之人住在信施建造的寺院所受果報之苦。《火堆喻經》是關於已從沙門法墮落而仍乍現沙門相的犯戒者應受果報的開示。


《清淨道論》所提及的破戒過患應牢記:

“Abhivādanasādiyane, kiṃ nāma sukhaṃ vipannasī lassa; Daḷhavāḷarajjughaṃsanadukkhādhikadukkhabhāgissa.”

“雖受禮敬樂,破戒有何樂?彼因此受苦,過於引繩鋸。”


“Saddhānamañjalikammasādiyane kiṃ sukhaṃ asīlassa; Sattippahāradukkhādhimattadukkhassa yaṃhetu.”

“受信眾合掌,無戒有何樂?彼因此受苦,過於利刀刺。”


“Cīvaraparibhogasukhaṃ, kiṃ nāma asaṃyatassa; Yena ciraṃ anubhavitabbo, niraye jalitaayopaṭṭ-asamphasso.”

“不自調御者,受用衣何樂?久受地獄苦,火焰鐵板觸。”


“Madhuropi piṇḍapāto, halāhalavisūpamo asīlassa; Ādittā gilitabbā, ayoguḷā yena cirarattaṃ.”

“無戒受美食,毒如哈羅哈,因此於長夜,吞咽熱鐵丸。”


“Sukhasammatopi dukkho, asīlino mañcapīṭhaparibhogo; Yaṃ bādhissanti ciraṃ, jalitaayomañcapīṭhāni.”

 “無戒用床座,雖苦思為樂,熱鐵椅與床,惱苦無窮極。”


“Dussīlassa vihāre, saddhādeyyamhi kā nivāsa rati; Jalitesu nivasitabbaṃ, yena ayokumbhimajjhesu.”

“信施寺中住,破戒有何樂?因此彼當住,熱紅大鐵釜。”


“Saṅkasarasamācāro, kasambujāto avassuto pāpo; Antopūtīti ca yaṃ, nindanto āha lokagaru.”

“世間導師呵:破戒如糞土,具惡有疑行,有漏而內腐。”

“Dhī jīvitaṃ asaññatassa, tassa samaṇajanavesadhārissa; Assamaṇassa upahataṃ, khatamattānaṃ vahantassa.”

“不御非沙門,但穿沙門服,善根自掘害,此生實卑惡。”

“Gūthaṃ viya kuṇapaṃ viya, maṇḍanakāmā vivajjayantīdha; Yaṃ nāma sīlavanto, santo kiṃ jīvitaṃ tassa.”

“如欲莊嚴者,厭離糞與屍,寂靜具戒者,棄彼命何如?”


“Sabbabhayehi amutto, mutto sabbehi adhigamasukhehi; Supihitasaggadvāro, apāyamaggaṃ samārūḷho.”

“不離諸怖畏,卻離諸證樂,緊閉入天門,登臨地獄道。”


“Karuṇāya vatthubhūto, kāruṇikajanassa nāma ko añño; Dussīlasamo dussī, latāya iti bahuvidhā dosāti.”

“破戒者破戒,具足諸罪惡,悲愍者所愍,捨彼復誰屬?”

“Ekavīsatividhāya anesanāya jīvikaṃ kappento anipakavutti nāma hoti, na paññāya ṭhatvā jīvikaṃ kappeti, tato kālakiriyaṃ katvā sama ṇyakkho nāma hutvā tassa saṇghāṭipi ādittā hoti sampajjalitā. ”

“哪怕比庫只破微小戒但不懺悔,仍以破戒而住,此人死後將投生為沙門鬼,身著熱火袈裟,捧燃燒之缽。”(《中部·乾達羅迦經》義注》。)


《相應部·因緣品·勒叉那相應》(Lakkhaṇasaṃyuttaṃ)中也記載迦葉佛教法期間,有些比庫、比庫尼、沙馬內拉、沙馬內莉由於惡行投生為悲慘的亞卡(夜叉),哀嚎著忍受燃燒之缽和袈裟的折磨,這一幕被路經靈鷲山(音譯耆闍崛山,Gijjhakūṭa-pabbata)的勒叉那尊者看到。事實的確如此,當知比庫以非法行是極其危險的。
